The line of sight is a great issue for me on the topfeeds, but not on the siphonfeeds. I then thought the sidefeeds would give me the same issue as the topfeeds.

Another reason I like the side feed is that I can quickly remove the cup for easy cleaning, and tilt it to avoid spills when I'm holding the airbrush in unconventional positions. :-)

I have experienced some spills with the topfeed airbrush, due to odd positions as you also mentioned. So maybe I will benefit a great deal from switching to a sidefeed airbrush.

It means a lot to get your feedback on your experiences with the different types airbrushes.

What type of media do you usually paint on? Dibond, or?

I'm happy to share what little I know.
I usually paint on hot press illustration board such as Crescent 9208, but illustration board that can handle scratching with an X-acto blade is becoming more and more difficult to find.

I definately appreciate it :D

I haven't stumbled across that type of illustrationboard here in Denmark, but Ihave bought Schoellerhammer's 4G illustrationboard. I'm not quite happy with the way it performs, it has almost no scratchresistance, I can let my backside of my fingernail slide lightly over the surface, and it leaves a mark on it that is quite difficult to get a good color-result across, the mark shines up through the color.
So I'm on the lookout for a better material/media, but haven't come across any yet.

I'm looking at the Clayboard as a possible alternative to the discontinued Crescent 9208.

I'm not sure we can get clayboards here in Denmark. Dibonds are imported from Germany or the UK.

But I know a few places where I could ask them, if they could possibly get on stock.

Are the clayboards an absorbent material, or?

Unfortunately there is a general misconception of the airbrush art here in Denmark. Airbrush art is much more than painting on cars and motorcycles. Not many do their art on canvas, murals, t-shirts etc., and therefore there aren't many suppliers of media's nor paint and other supplies for this hobby.

But it's growing, and the knowledge is to, so it just might get a whole lot better in a very near future :D

Eddy Wouters is investigating alternatives for illustration board. His findings will be shared here, as well as places where the board can be purchased.
